Financial Aid, scholarships, gifts, grants, stipends, they call all be free money and dramatically reduce the cost of an education.  They can be the holy grail of college education funding.  That said, most of our students are not walk-on athletes or Rhodes Scholars.  As a result, most financial aid generally turns out to be loans.  With 4, 5 or even 6 or 7 years of college to pay for, the amount of debt a student could accumulate can become staggering.
